Snow Day

Brody looking like he's ready for anything.

I just love this one of Omi and Max.

The whole gang (minus Barry who took the photo).

Claire with a snowball mid-air.  Great action shot.

Looks like Brody and Claire are preparing for a snowball fight and loving it!

Admiring their snowman.

Last week Barry was at home while he worked in Northfield at the clinic.  He went over to play with Omi and the kids outside one day.  They all had a blast playing in the snow.  They learned all about snowballs, snowmen, and snow angels.

Pizza

Apparently this is how excited Brody gets when we get pizza!!  Funny thing though, he didn't really eat more than a few bites.

Zoo

The attempt to get a photo of all 3 kids on the turtle was a fail, so this is what we got.

Claire & Brody enjoyed running through the tunnel over to where Omi & Max were waiting for them.
"Check that out mommy, it's like an Oreo animal."

I had the day off on Monday so Brody and I met up with Omi, Claire, and Max at the zoo.  The zoo was most definitely a zoo.  Apparently other people had the same idea.  The kids had fun though, as always.

Happy Valentine's Day

I took this photo from my mom who did a photo shoot with the three kids in matching PJs plus individual shots.  I've been slacking in the photo department, but I swear now that I feel better, I'll take some more photos and get back up to speed with posting pictures.  Today my sister-in-law, Whitney, and I took a class on how to use our cameras to take better candid photos of our kids in everyday moments.  While I'd love to take other great photos, my life right now means photos of my Brody (and soon baby boy #2) take priority and let's face it, there aren't a ton of photo-ops that I see beyond that right now.  I learned a lot at the class that I had long ago forgotten, so I'm excited to practice....as soon as I get my new lens for my birthday.  Due to catastrophic events that impact Nikon manufacturing, the lenses are hard to come by, otherwise I'd be sitting at home with one right now.  I hope to be pleasantly surprised and get one around my birthday or before spring vacation.

Sick House

Brody opening up a gift from Audrey - animals and farmers!
A funny looking horse.  We're working on teaching him that it's really a zebra.

A pug dog.  I'm sure Brody doesn't remember, but there was a time when he was little when we had our own pug dog named Kiah.  Every good farm has a dog.

"Sticker off"- He just could not wait to get the stickers off of the animals.  "Horsey!!"

A sitting "farmer" that fits in his big Case IH tractor and his little Farmall 300 tractor.  Perfect!

I've been horrible about updating the blog and taking pictures the last couple of weeks.  First Brody was sick, then we both were, then mostly just me.  Thank goodness for Boogie Wipes or Brody's poor nose would have turned raw long ago.  I have to give props to my little Brody-man.  He's the biggest sick-boy trooper!  Aside from a couple of nights, he slept without us needing to go help throughout much of his feeling crummy and it was a good 10 days of feeling crummy.  At his two year checkup on February 6 we found out he had an ear infection in each ear (which I had suspected he would get).  He's on antibiotics for that and we go back in a week to have them rechecked.  At 2 years he is 29# (75%), 34 1/4" tall (50-75%), with a head 19 3/4" (75-90%).  His language is exploding and it's fun to hear!  If you pretend to hold him like a baby he'll say "No, me a big boy.  Mommy baby tummy."  Hopefully by the time the baby arrives he will be ready to be a good big boy brother.  He's talking more and more about going potty and tells us when he's going pee too sometimes.  So I think we're progressing in the right direction.  My hope is that he'll be on board and ready to potty train by the end of my maternity leave.  He was pretty excited about his big boy Elmo underwear.
As for baby #2, I'm 25 weeks tomorrow.  On Friday I had my glucose test and passed (must be that ridiculous tolerance to sugar I've developed).  My blood pressure is also great, a beautiful side effect of both pregnancies thus far.  After the first trimester with both, it has been a miraculous migraine cure.  The veteran OB at my clinic (whom I really love) said he's never heard of that before.  At my checkup he gave me a second antibiotic for me to try for what he and another doc thought was a sinus infection that I'm battling.  I don't get sick very often (aside from migraines if you call that sick), but this cold thing has kicked me down pretty hard and for a lot longer than I've ever experienced.  I guess it's a combo of being a little immune suppressed for baby #2 and because in pregnancy your body just retains fluid oh so well (oh yeah, and because there are so many wonderful medications out there that everyone tells you not to take while pregnant), a perfect combo for a jacked up sinus situation.  I haven't slept well since Feb 1 and I really look forward to my sleep returning because I have watched every Harry Potter movie on a running loop every night since and we don't have cable, a situation that I have regretted recently.  The good news is that baby #2 couldn't care less about my sickness and since being good to him is my number 1 priority besides Brody, I think I'm still being a pretty good mom.  Thanks to my mom who has taken Brody for me well I'm sick and brought him home for me a couple of times.  And sorry to Barry who has come home 2 weekends in a row to a pathetic excuse for a wife.  Brody hasn't gone hungry, I haven't one hungry, and I've turned in every school assignment on time so far, I call that a success.  Here's to hoping that tonight is the night it all turns around and tomorrow I can go to work without people saying that I look terrible and suggest that I go home.  I sure would like to save the little sick time I have left for my actual maternity leave!  Here's hoping that tomorrow starts out right!
On a side note, at Goodwill today I bought 2 pairs of sandals, the cutest newborn ones and a similar version in jumbo Brody size.  Oh how cute it'll be to have 2 boys this summer.  Let the torturous coordinating photo ops begin.

Happy Birthday Brody

Checking out his post-party after math.

Opening his livestock trailer that we gave him on Sunday after naptime.

Feeling kind of sick and crummy.

Smiling with tears falling on his cheeks.  Such a tropper!  It stinks to be little and sick when all you know is that "eye hurt, mommy" and "wipe nose".  He's having a pretty rough day today on his real birthday.  Luckily Omi is doing her best at trying everything she can think of to make him feel better.  He sure sounds pathetic on the phone though.

Just one year ago our big boy turned 1!

And 2 years ago today Brody was all nice and warm, sleeping peacefully in the hospital.
